WSOP 2019C/D Season

There are two sessions that make up the WSOP 2019C/D season. WSOPC session will run from October 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018. Regional qualifiers for this session will be held during the week of January 13th. WSOPD session will run from January 1, 2018 through March 31, 2018. Regional qualifiers for this session will be held during the week of April 7th. The top 30% of people who earn points throughout a session at each tournament, will qualify for a regional event. If you cannot make your assigned regional, you may request to attend an alternate, but you must make the request at least 24 hours before your assigned regional event. The winner of each regional event will receive a $500 bonus chip to be awarded at the State Tournament. The top ten finishers from each regional event will move on to the State Tournament.

The Champion of each location (point leader) during each session, will still receive auto-entry to the State Tournament and is not required to qualify though a Regional Qualifier Tournament. If a player is the Champion of multiple locations, they will be rewarded with a $500 bonus chip for each additional location. For example, if a player is the Champion of three locations during the course of the season, they will receive auto-entry to the State Tournament, as well as $1000 in bonus chips. Bar champions will only be declared for venues that held at least six (6) tournaments in a session.

Join us at Park Place Sports Bar in St. Paul Park for another fabulous specialty tournament! This event is limited to the first 64 people to register via email to SFPTSpecialtyTourney@gmail.com. Register on or before 8/19 for a $1000 early registration bonus!

The maximum prize pool of $200 will be up for grabs in the form of WILD TICKETS, GIFT CARDS, BAR SWAG and a consolation game will be available to the first 18 eliminated from the tourney.

This quarter’s concept is Short Deck Hold’em.

Short Deck Hold’em is a variant of Texas hold ’em, where cards 2 through 5 are removed from the deck. Each player is dealt two cards face down and seeks to make his or her best five card poker hand using any combination of the seven cards (five community cards and their own two hole cards).

The rules in terms of betting structures, play of the hand, and showdown are the same as in Texas hold ’em. However before play begins all cards 2 through 5 are removed (16 cards), thus the total number of cards in the deck is 36.

Aces are high, but same as in Texas hold ’em, can make both low and high end of straights. For example the lowest straight would be (9x-8x-7x-6x-Ax) and the highest (Ax-Kx-Qx-Jx-10x).

This changes the probability of hands and alters hand rankings: Flush ranks higher than full house and Three-of-a-kind ranks higher than a straight.

Register on or before 8/19 for an early registration bonus of $1000. This event is limited to the first 64 people to register via email to SFPTSpecialtyTourney@gmail.com
